Inside the Galaxy S5's image sensor

Megapixels are not so important - at least not for the overall image quality. There are a plenty of other important features that make up a high quality image sensor, which is important to keep in mind when talking about ISOCELL - the newest technology of Samsung implemented in Galaxy S5.
This new technology promises increased light sensitivity and higher color fidelity even in poor lighting conditions, and Samsung bills it as the next step in the evolution of backside-illuminated (BSI) sensors.

How does ISOCELL work?

ISOCELL is essentially an evolution of existing technologies and aims to address the problems highlighted above.
First off, ISOCELL attempts to fix the problem of crosstalk by isolating each pixel with a physical barrier, hence the “iso” part of the name. These barriers ensure that the correct photons remain trapped in their desired cells and are therefore more likely to be absorbed into the correct pixel’s photodiode.
Here’s a short video:

Compared to conventional BSI pixels, ISOCELL is expected to decrease crosstalk and increase the sensor’s full well capacity by approximately 30 percent, due to the way each color pixel is isolated. That doesn’t mean that the image quality is going to improve by 30 percent, but it will result in higher color fidelity, which will be noticed as a slight improvement to sharpness and richness.

Meizu MX4 will be lauched in 2 days!

Meizu has started sending out invites for its event taking place on Thursday, March 6th in Paris. The invite itself doesn’t tell us much about what to expect, but we’re betting we’ll see the MX4 unveiled at that time.

Chances are this bad boy will rely on Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 801 chip, or who knows, the new Exynos 5 Octa chip. Current Meizu MX3 uses earlier Exynos 5 so they may decide to keep relying on a Samsung-made SoC.

HTC M8 Hands On Video Leaked

Storage expansion went out of fashion over the last two years. Fortunate, then, for those of us wanting to take our music / audio book / photo collection everywhere, that HTC's upgraded One will see a return to microSD storage on its flagship series.

Against trend, the new One also looks like it'll have an identical footprint to last year's model. In a lengthy video leak from GadgetReviews - now down, but mirrored elsewhere -- we get to see that unibody build from a few more angles (including a closer look at that brushed finish) and catch some few software tweaksto the Blinkfeed news stream However, what does that secondary camera actually do? We're getting increasingly impatient about that March 25th reveal date.

[GUIDE] Nokia X Rooted and Loaded with Google Apps, Play Store, and Google Now Launcher!

Just a few days ago, we showed you a quick glimpse of what “real” Android looks like on the Nokia X. Unfortunately, this was only a standard replacement launcher, leaving many of us salivating at the prospect of having a Nokia X with full access to Google Apps and Services. Now thanks to a guide by XDA Senior Member Kashamalaga, that time has come.

Kashamalaga’s guide is quite simple. First, you acquire root access using the Galdalf Exploit in Framaroot. From there, you install a root-capable file manager. Then, you copy a Nokia X-specific Gapps package by Kashamalaga to your /system/app folder, and give it the appropriate permissions. After a reboot and a few more application installs, you are then able to access the Google Play Store, various Google Apps, and the Google Experience Launcher:

GUIDE:
This is a rudimental way to do it. This happen because we dont have recovery yet. Bootloader seems locked in some ways, so instead flashing a single zip, we need this way to get it working.

1) You should need a rooted device. Use Gandalf Exploit included in Framaroot app.
(Download it from http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...1&d=1391850491)

2) We need a Root explorer app, use whatever you want. (For example: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...explorer&hl=es)

3) Extract and copy all apks from "NokiaX_Gapps_KashaMalaga_28.02.2014.zip" to /system/app and change permisions for this files.

4) Reboot your device

5)Extract and install as normal user every single needed apk include in "NokiaX_SomeGoogleApps.zip". (If wanna use Google Now Launcher, open it after install it)

6) Try to launch Play Store, its gonna ask you for a Google Account

7) Enjoy the Android flavour on your Nokia!

Google scheduled an event for Project ARA

The Conference will take place between April 15 and April 16 in Mountain View, California.

Project Ara is the modular phone that was originally a project being handled by Motorola, but was kept by Google as part of the Motorola purchase by Lenovo. The conference will be held the same month that Google releases the Ara Module Developers’ Kit

There is also some more information about Google's desires for Project Ara have come out. For example, Google wants the entry level unit priced no higher than $50. For that price, buyers would get a touchscreen, Wi-Fi radio, and the circuitry to run both. Google plans on opening kiosks where Ara owners can purchase additional parts to snap in to their phone, allowing an Ara owner to go from low-end, to mid-range and perhaps even high-end model, with a few key component additions.
